NSREA Designations

General Provisions For Designation

Candidate members desirous of obtaining a professional designation in the National Society of Real Estate Appraisers (NSREA) shall first comply with all of the conditions set forth in the NSREA Constitution and Bylaws in addition to the following:


No person shall be permitted to apply for a designation in NSREA until said person has completed a minimum of one (1) year as a candidate for membership.


All candidates at the time of application for designation shall be financially current with both his/her national and local annual dues. Proof of being current with annual dues shall be submitted along with your application. If a chapter is not available in your geographic location, national dues are acceptable. 


Applicants shall provide NSREA with proof passing of appraisal courses sponsored by NSREA and/or by a nationally recognized professional organization, if requested.

Types of Designations

  • Residential Member – RA
  • Serve a minimum of 1-full year as a Candidate Member. Submit 1-Single Family, 1-Small Residential Income and 1-Condominium Report.
  • Senior Member – CRA
  • Submit an appraisal report on a commercial income producing property using all 3-approaches to value and 1-report being a special purpose property, I.e., church, gasoline station, school, etc.
  • Must be a designated (RA) member for a minimum of 1-year.
